One great piece of advice I read about freelance work is to decide how much you want to be paid per hour and make your schedule fit that number. If a project is paying $1000 and you want to make $50 and hour you need to finish it in 20 hours. In other words, streamline your work for greatest productivity and profit.
During the time I worked at a community access TV station one of the things that I was most proud of is how I systematized the office to work more efficiently. It had been originally set up when the station used VHS decks primarily. By the time I was there we were using DVD’s and switching to digital files. Therefore, the office did not run as efficiently as it could have. I spent some time organizing the space and the processes so that my time could be used most effectively.
So why can’t I do that with my life?
By streamlining processes in my life from washing dishes to working I’m hoping that I can free up some time to spend how I want to (or making more money). I’ll start by organizing my desk area. That way I will not have to spend any extra time trying to find things. What other ways are there to streamline everyday tasks for greatest efficiency (and hopefully some extra free time)?
