How to Stock an Herbal Medicine Cabinet

My extended family jokes that I always have a concoction or potion for everyday ailments (and their probably right!). They’re obviously not really potions though. They are simply herbal and natural remedies that our ancestors used for generations before modern medicine was established.

Don’t get me wrong, modern medicine is great for things like diagnosing illnesses, surgery, setting bones, etc. But I always prefer to try and treat minor issues at home as long as it’s safe to do so.

That’s why I keep my natural medicine cabinet stocked. You never know when a mild issue may pop up and it can be difficult to get herbs or preparations where you live on short notice (I know it is for me!).

In this guide, I’m going to show you what herbs and natural remedies I keep on hand and what I use them for.

Why Stock an Herbal Medicine Cabinet

As I mentioned, I like to deal with minor issues at home when possible. I have had way too many prescriptions written for me or my kids that we really didn’t need. So, I do ask for guidance from properly trained healthcare providers, but I also do my own research and look for natural remedies when I can.

But here’s the thing:

If I don’t have what I need for an issue (like an ear infection) the only choice I have is to take the prescription or suffer for a few days (possibly letting the issue get worse) before the herbs or other natural remedies arrive in my mailbox.

So, I decided to start keeping the herbs I need on hand so when and if I need them, they re ready for me!

How to Stock Your Herbal Medicine Cabinet

I created this guide to help you build your stash of natural remedies that you are most likely to need and use on a regular basis.

Once you have this basic list covered you can start including other remedies that are more specific to your family’s needs. Or you can switch out remedies as needed.

Use this guide as a checklist and shopping list to stock your home with remedies for minor illnesses and injuries that can be treated at home.

This guide includes herbs, supplements, preparations, and other things that I keep in my herbal medicine cabinet that have been helpful to me and my family. What you need may be different, but this will be a good starting point for you.

I also am unable to figure out how to get this promised resource. Though I have jumped through every hoop, many many hoops to each vendor some appear to be impossible!! Some just SO time consuming and complicated going through captcha’s screens time and time and time again!! But after agreeing to take emails and content I was not promised and very well may not want, still can not get the ONE booklet that I was promised. One vendor I can not get it for free as stated; it appears to be a pay only resource.
Way too crazy making and not leaving a good feeling in my mouth over all. Even if some of You may be actual good resources :-(
Any help would be appreciated in getting access to this promised resource. It has taken 3 or 4 different attempts covering 2-3 hours to download a few booklets that should have taken 20-30 minutes tops during one session.

I’m not sure what’s going on. I jsut tested it and this is what happened:
      enter email address
      receive confirmation email
upon clicking confirm button I was redirected to the freebie
ALSO received another email with a direct link the freebie
clicked the link and was prompted to download the ebook

Can you tell me where things went wrong for you?

Plus…. I thought well I can’t get the promised resource but maybe I will download some other of the gardening resources You claim are free… though I have already signed up for emails etc to Your site, apparently I must re-enter my email and agree to things to get EACH & EVERY ‘free’ ebooklet on Your site?!?! Please… as previously stated in a comment I don’t see – I have gone through unbelievably rigorous time consuming clicking agreeing signing captcha-ing to just be put through MORE hoops! Not getting what was promised and now without MORE fanfare, can not get ANY ‘free’ resources though I have already ‘joined’ Your lists and Your site…. ???? very very very frustrating. If it’s ‘free’ please let me have any even ONE ebooklet!!
